Pearl was acquired in August of 2006. The previous owner had also cruised the coast of California, and had made several upgrades to the boat including a Maxwell windlass, new mainsail track system, radar/GPS system, B&G instruments, B&G autopilot and an EPIRB. She had the unfortunate name of "Smeagol" and was relatively unused for a 25 year old boat, with only 1100 hours on the engine. The major upgrades in the past two years include:
